Digitalization

In 2008, CTEEP began a pioneering project in electricity transmission grids, with the digitalization of substations. The initiative involves the implementation of a fully digitalized system of protection, measurement, commands, control and supervision, with lower sensitivity to electromagnetic interference, ensuring greater simplicity in the operation and maintenance of the substations. With the new technology, it is possible to carry out operations in the installations automatically, ensuring even greater flexibility, safety and quality in the operation of the grid, both under normal operation and in recomposition operations after disruptions. The Mongaguá substation, located on the southern coast of São Paulo state, was the first to be digitalized, in accordance with the principles of Standard IEC 61850 – Communications Networks and Substation Systems. On the basic of this experience, CTEEP will define plans for the modernization of the other installations.
