Research and Development

CTEEP has invested R$ 23 million in the development of projects, either finalized or underway, as part of its research and development (R&D) program.
The Research and Development (R&D) program is one of the mechanisms for the generation and management of corporate and sectoral knowledge at CTEEP. Since 2001, with the signing of the concession contract, the company has abided by Law 9.991 / 2000, which requires electricity sector companies to use 0.4% of net operating revenue for their own R&D projects.
Since then, CTEEP has invested over R$ 23 million in the development of projects either finalized or underway, resulting in the registration of four patents and one software application. The funds available for the coming periods total R$ 12.76 million. In 2008, seven multiyear projects and 13 new projects were completed as part of the fifth year of the program, the period 2005/2006, with investments of R$ 5.11 million and successful results such as greater impact on company processes. Partnerships are in place with 12 research institutions, and 19 project managers are involved.
In November 2008, ANEEL approved the sixth phase of the program, the period 2006/2007, implemented as of January 1, 2009, which will continue six multiyear projects already underway and launch ten new projects.
The new ANEEL R&D Manual was also launched during 2008, resulting in significant changes in the definition of the research topics to be developed in the coming years. CTEEP has therefore structured its Strategic R&D Plan, consolidating its own needs, those of the ISA group and those of the electricity sector, ensuring coherence with its strategic challenges and focus on the potential results of each topic to be developed.
